Nominate Deserving Individuals for NWATA Awards!

Hall of Fame/Honors and Awards Updates:
Following a review process of the awards given by the NWATA, after comparison to awards given by the NATA and several of the other districts, and after discussion with the executive council, the Honors and Awards committee in conjunction with the executive council, will now be presenting the following awards:

 

DISTRICT 10 SERVICE AWARD

The NWATA District Service Award is given in recognition of those members who have furthered the advancement of the NWATA within District 10 through their contributions and dedicated service to the athletic training profession.  The award is to recognize work within the profession at all levels (community, state, district, national).  However, this is a district award and implies volunteerism and service within the NWATA by the nominee to assist in the accomplishment of the ongoing work for its members and the betterment of the profession. 

Criteria:

  • Nominees must be members for a minimum of 10 years in and in good standing of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) and the Northwest Athletic Trainers’ Association (NWATA) or have retired in good standing.

  • Nominees MUST have made a contribution to the profession of athletic training within District 10 (NWATA).

  • These contributions to the district can be by appointment, volunteerism, committee work, student forums, etc.

  • Contributions to the profession of athletic training at the community, state and national levels are also important and are taken into consideration for this award.

ELEVATE AWARD

The ElevATe Award is awarded in recognition of District 10 members who have “ELEVATED” our profession of Athletic Training. A member’s contribution to furthering our profession could be at any level (community, state, district, national) or any setting (clinical, secondary schools, universities, industrial, educational, etc) .
 

Criteria:

  • Nominees must be members in good standing of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) and the Northwest Athletic Trainers’ Association (NWATA) or have retired in good standing.

  • Nominees MUST have made a contribution to the profession of athletic training.

nurture, stimulate or generally just “Elev
ATe” the profession of athletic
training?

  • A maximum of 5 individuals per year will be awarded.

Application Guidelines:

  • Any certified athletic trainer, administrator or workplace faculty member may nominate individuals for the ElevATe Award.

  • Nominations can be found and completed online at www.NWATA.org

  • Nominees will be notified of nomination and asked for further information relating to the award.

  • Nominations for this award will be reviewed by the Honors and Awards Committee and recommendations made to the NWATA Executive Council for approval.

Presentation:

The award will be presented each year during the NWATA Annual Meeting.

NWATA NEW HORIZON'S AWARD

The New Horizon Award is given in recognition of Young Professionals of the NWATA for their unique or immediate contributions in service to the NWATA and the athletic training profession within District 10.  This is an award that recognizes volunteerism, advancement of the profession, or service to the NWATA. 

 

Criteria:

  • Nominees must be members in good standing of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) and the NWATA.

  • Nominee must be a certified athletic trainer who has been practicing within District 10 for a minimum of one (1) year and a maximum of twelve (12) years.

  • Nominee must have made a direct contribution to the profession of athletic training.

  • Any previous recipients of this award are ineligible for nomination.

  • Any certified athletic trainer, administrator or workplace faculty member may nominate individuals for the for the New Horizon Award.

  • Nominations can be found and completed online at www.NWATA.org

  • Nominees will be notified of their nomination and asked for further information relating to the award.

  • Nominations for this award will be reviewed by the Honors and Awards Committee and recommendations made to the NWATA executive council for approval.

COURAGE, LOVE AND JOY AWARD

The Courage, Love, and Joy Award is given in recognition of District 10 members who doing demonstrating courage, love, and/or joy within their communities.

 

Courage – Recognizing individuals who have displayed exceptional bravery in the face of danger or adversity, such as saving lives, protecting others from harm, or confronting challenging situations with determination. And honoring individuals who have demonstrated courage by overcoming significant personal challenges, whether physical, emotional, or social, and inspiring others through their resilience. 

 

Love – Recognizing individuals who have demonstrated exceptional kindness, empathy, and compassion towards others, whether through small gestures of love or larger acts of generosity and support.

 

Joy – Recognizing individuals who bring joy and laughter to others through their infectious enthusiasm, humor, and uplifting attitude, brightening the lives of those around them. Acknowledging individuals or groups that have made significant contributions to the well-being and happiness of their communities, fostering a sense of belonging, camaraderie, and positivity.

 

Criteria:

  • Nominees must be members in good standing of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) and the Northwest Athletic Trainers’ Association (NWATA) or have retired in good standing.

  • Nominees must demonstrate at least one of the three virtues (courage, love, and/or joy)

  • Previous recipients of this award can be nominated again, for something different than why they received the award prior.

  • No maximum number awarded per year

  • Nominees will be notified of their nomination and asked for further information relating to the award.

  • Nominations for this award will be reviewed by the Honors and Awards Committee and recommendations made to the NWATA executive council for approval.

NWATA DISTRICT DIRECTOR'S AWARD

This award recognizes those individuals and/or organizations who deserve recognition for their contributions to the field of athletic training, and who may not be eligible for other awards or may warrant additional recognition for their contribution to District X. The District Director’s Award is a discretionary award and will be given as he or she feels is appropriate.

HALL OF FAME

The NWATA District 10 Hall of Fame Award is to recognize and honor those members of our District who have consistently served and demonstrated outstanding and unusual service to the NWATA and profession of Athletic Training over an extended period of time.

Criteria:

  • Nominees must have been a member in good standing of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) and the Northwest Athletic Trainers’ Association (NWATA) for at least 20 years.

  • Nominees MUST have made a consistent and significant contribution to the profession of athletic training within District 10 over an extended time period.

  • Nominees may NOT be a current NWATA elected officer or Awards Committee Chairperson.

Application Guidelines:         

Candidates must be nominated by a current member of the NWATA.

To submit a nomination for the Hall of Fame, fill out the Hall of Fame nomination form.  Nomination forms are available at the links below.  Each nomination packet requires three letters of recommendation in addition to the nomination form.
